First Degree Wave Rower Neptune
Developed by professional rowers to deliver the feeling, sound and sight of real on-water
rowing in your own home.
Rowing is a great fitness activity for all ages and body types. It is one of the best forms
of total body aerobic exercise, with all major muscle groups called into full use.
Interestingly, expert opinion is that only swimming and cross-country skiing come into the same
league. And rowing is non-weight–bearing, which makes it especially suitable for those who are
no longer young.
Rowing is also highly meditative, with the hypnotic repetition of simple body movements.
Devotees of rowing view its cyclic motion as good for their feeling of "karma", and the steady
rotation of water on Fluid Rower machines helps accentuate this sense of well-being.
Rowing - great for both body and mind!
Why fluid?
Water - nature's perfect resistance medium
Water has unique "cube rule" physical properties, which mean that to go twice as fast through
it requires 8 times the effort!
So as the athlete increases workout intensity, the Fluid Technology resistance unit responds
instantaneously.
No slack, no slippage, no flat spots, just full on resistance, in an instant, always there
for you at the precise moment you want it!
Every competitive rower knows the feel of the cube rule, and just how tough it can be to
squeeze that tiny extra bit of speed out of the boat in the race to the line.
And that's why we say that Fluid Technology gives you the nearest thing to real on-water rowing.
How it works
Rotating paddles act on water in the outer chamber to provide the necessary resistance to the
athlete's effort, and dissipate energy. The inner chamber purely provides passive storage of
water.
The position of the indicator determines the relative levels between the two chambers.
The complete system holds 8 litres of water.
As you move the lever to increase the resistance more water is transferred to the outer (active)
chamber, thus giving you a harder workout.
Stress Test
The clear plastic cover of the tank lets you see the water and the mechanism, and gives you an
idea of your work as the paddles rotate in the chamber. It's also a nice design feature and
looks quite cool.
But don't mistake the plastic cover as being cheap parts, those are high quality materials
designed and build to withstand a lot of pressure and to have a long lifetime!
